Our Story

Born From
Obsession.

We didn't open a tattoo shop. We built a space where art has no ceiling and skin becomes the only canvas worth working on. Every chair in this studio was earned through obsession, not ambition.

Founded in 2009 in Brooklyn, Dark Matter grew from a single artist with a single machine into a collective of twelve who share exactly one standard — the work has to be undeniable.

Got Questions

Before You Book

How do I book a session?

+
Fill the contact form below or DM us on Instagram. We reply within 24 hours to discuss your concept and find a date.

How much does a tattoo cost?

+
Custom work starts at $150. Final price depends on size, detail, and placement. Full quote given after your free consultation.

Does it hurt?

+
Honestly, yes — some spots more than others. Our artists work efficiently and check in throughout. Most clients say it was easier than they expected.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

+
Eat well before you come, stay hydrated, and wear clothing that allows easy access to the area. No alcohol 24 hours before.

How long does healing take?

+
Surface healing takes 2 to 3 weeks. Full healing is 3 to 4 months. We give detailed aftercare instructions after every session.

Do you do cover-ups?

+
Yes, and it is one of our strengths. We assess the existing work in a free consultation and design something that transforms it completely.
